Hina

Hina

My self-insert OC.

Basic Info

Personality

Hina proudly claims to be an alien from Saturn, whether this is a genuine belief or a coping mechanism is anyone's guess. She can be quiet to the point of seeming unapproachable, or occasionally come across as a bit pretentious with her drastic world views. Most of Celestial Being finds her either unintentionally amusing (Lockon, especially) or outright delusional.

Setsuna, however, gets her completely. Their dynamic can be a little concerning to others, especially after Setsuna convinces her that she's Gundam too. Luckily, over the years, both of them find a calmer balance.

Hina is hardworking, fiercely passionate about the Gundams, and skilled at repairs. Yet, she often toes the line with Ian by repurposing resources for her personal projects, such as improving the pink Haro AI or installing an anime screen in Exia's cockpit. She insists every Gundam has a soul and deserves head pats after maintenance. Despite being a terrible pilot, she's able to do it with Haro's assistance.

Beyond her sometimes aloof exterior, Hina genuinely cares about people, Gundams, and the world. Setsuna appreciates her ideals... and her cooking.

Hina

Story

Born during the final stages of the Union's Orbital Elevator construction, Hina witnessed firsthand the human cost of "progress": depleted natural resources, overworked labor, silenced accidents, and the erasure of slum communities for tourism. Despite her fascination with technology and space, she harbored a quiet resentment toward the project, seeing it as a monument to exploitation rather than advancement.

Moving between slums in her home country and Taribia, Hina grew up amid poverty, violence, and discrimination. Survival became her daily practice, saving every possible credit for a better future. Eventually, the death of her last known contact family offered a chance to move to the Union's Special Economic Jurisdiction in Japan, where she pursued engineering studies.

During her studies, she met Saji Crossroad, barely acquaintances yet connected by circumstance. One day, tasked with delivering papers to him, Hina encountered Setsuna staring silently from his apartment. Their first conversation was minimal. His unemotional responses contrasted with her persistent curiosity, but something unspoken passed between them. Over time, their quiet interactions blossomed: sharing meals, late-night stargazing, and mutual fascination with Gundams and the night sky. Setsuna, from Hina's perspective, was like an abandoned black cat she couldn't help but care for.

Their adventures escalated when a gravely injured Setsuna appeared at her window after a long absence. Hina, relying on her skills as a mechanic, patched him up while he entrusted her with the urgent care of Exia. Together, they traversed deserts, repaired Gundams, and shared quiet moments among blooming flowers. Hina's feelings extended even to the Gundams themselves, believing they deserved care and healing beyond mere mechanics.

Eventually, she discovered the Destiny Impulse Gundam during a risky infiltration. Setsuna protected her from danger, taking her home after their encounter. Though separated for two years, her connection with him endured, eventually bringing her into Celestial Being. She became a valued mechanic, working alongside Setsuna, passionately maintaining the Gundams she loved. During the ELS conflict, she was one of the few to recognize the sentience in the ELS. Partially assimilated herself, she survived thanks to Setsuna, waiting faithfully for his return to Earth.

Hina

Relationship with Setsuna

At first, Setsuna saw Hina as a child all alone in need of protection, and, admittedly, as a comforting companion. Their bond grew quietly, founded on mutual understanding that required no words. Their relationship officially began after his return from the ELS planet, solidified by a simple yet profound promise: Setsuna asked Hina to "be his Gundam." And in that, they found a shared purpose, a love built on trust, empathy, and unspoken understanding.
