My opinions and experiences on each Setsuna-related kit I have built.
My first proper kit!
It's an older HG, extremely simple, but still a quite fun kit. Maybe I'm biased but I felt such an extreme happiness building this, something I have never felt before ;u;
Technically the same thing as the HG Exia, but of course I needed both!
The theme for this one was "What gunpla would you use if you were in Build Fighters?" and this was my result
I call her "Heaven's Gardener", and I can't help but imagine Build Fighters AU SetsuHina, where Hina makes this one as a gift for Setsuna to confess her feelings for him (silly and delusional)
Fully repainted, modded a lot of parts, used nail decals for the flowers
I got in a silly mode that I needed to experience the building experience of every base Exia kit in existence, so the last one I needed was RG Exia.
I did build RG Exia Repair & Repair III before, but I was still missing the base one!
Great kit as usual, I tend to love RGs as a whole, but this might be my second favorite grade for Exia, losing only to the PG. She's beautiful!
This one I applied water decals, panel line, and top coat with Mr Hobby's GX 114 Super Smooth Clear Flat (on airbrush)
My first attempt with weathering. Honestly I didn't like the final result much, but at least I learned a lot!
I love Repair III so much I'm unable to put it into words!! She's so beautiful, in RG form her design truly shines.
Such a fun kit, I love RGs so much. Somehow this kit made me start loving 00 Raiser even more.
My first RG, and when I fell in love with the grade!
This might still be one of my favorite kits to this day, all the beautiful details in such a compact size, all of Qan[T]'s fun gimmicks, amazing to pose...
That was also my first time doing the panel line and top coat. But that made me start despising normal stickers instantly too...
I know this kit is infamous, but I honestly never had any issues with this kit, and I have built MG Avalanche Exia and Repair III alongside this base Exia. Pretty nice building experience, I like the inner frame details and overall appearance of this kit. Never had any issues posing it.
Somehow I never took a proper photo of her but she exists
It's kind of a failed scribing experiment, and I painted some big areas with markers, I ended up disliking it a lot
For whatevere reason I decided to prep all parts first before assembling this one, not a bad experience
I love the chonky design of this kit, not the best for posing but still such a fun building
Chonky creatura. I still want to apply water decals and top coat to it.
I love how insane the shelf presence of this kit is, though
Probably my best build to this day. The eding song with the imagery of 00 Gundam covered in flowers is deeply meaningful to me
Base kit is MG 00 Raiser
Fully repainted and weathered
Base made of styrofoam, diorama flowers from WJDG Model, water texture from Ammo Mig
Customized the Setsuna pilot figure into Soran using Tamiya putty
The more swords the better! Fun kit
Getting this kit was a dream come true! I thought I'd never be able to touch even the box of this, but somehow the perfect opportunity appeared around Christmas 2023.
Then I saved building this kit for a "special occasion", and that ended up being a group build in my local gunpla group. After years suggesting, they finally accepted my theme of "Protagonist MS", so of course I had to build the best possible option for my best boy.
I spend my birthday that year preparing this kit, then September painting the inner frame, base, and finally in October it was done.
It's hands down the best Exia kit in existence. Long building time, full of parts, gimmicks, and articulations. Great for posing, though I added the LEDs and painted the inner frame so I avoid playing with it too much. She always looks stunning, though.
Completed a day before my birthday.
Usually finding gunpla is almost impossible in my country, but somehow this specific kit appeared in a marketplace, the only one available, right when I got a bonus pay. The timing was so perfect it felt like a gift from Setsuna himself (ok, no... maybe)
So happy, such a wonderful kit, amazing building experience, cool giant weapons, my precious
Honestly the only kit that frustrated me during the build. Some parts only fit if you line them up at awkward angles (the knees especially, with an odd diagonal fit). The finished look is fine, but it's kinda annoying to pose.
It was ALMOST my very first kit, good thing I went with the HG instead ToT
A susprisingly fun building experience! It's pretty simple despite its size, but the big pieces make the experience so cozy. Very stable and sturdy, though it's one of the worst ones to pose for the same reasons. Still, I like how it looks quite "anime accurate".
Very simple kit, stickers hell, extremely disappointing... But it's still Exia!
Just like the Exia, very simple stickers hell, but I have built this one right after two PGs so it was quite the relaxing and healing experience.
The superior SD. Of course we can't expect much color separation from this, but it makes up for it with some fun gimmicks, such as the GN Drive spinning, the movable clavicle antennas, some actual clear parts, an better looking weapons compared to the SD Ex.
The first time I attempted painting a kit! This one was painted with spray cans and a common paintbrush before I got my airbrush
As a challenge I didn't use ANY of the stickers that come with this kit, even the eyes are hand painted
Fun little kit, I painted the Destiny Gundam alongside it since I was using this exact unit in Cross Rays for my custom character
It's a simple and pretty bad kit, but I did my best to fix it by removing the seam lines, changing his face proportions with putty and sanding, and fully repainting everything
The ultimate grail! I can't believe I managed to find the original one of this kit, at the perfect timing.
It was my first time working with a resin kit, I learned a lot, but it was quite the experience.
This kit was so annoying to find, and I probably overpaid for such a simple one, but I love it so much. Most adorable thing ever.
Such an important little kit, Haro is important to Lockon, Lockon is important to Setsuna, so...
Picked this up mostly for collection purposes. It’s a wonky little kit, I never expected anything more than that.
